Billet Injector Hat, Billet LT Block and Billet Nitro V-Twin Hemi Highlight Noonan Race Engineering's 2020 Vision

Noonan Race Engineering is unveiling a trio of exciting products at the 2019 Performance Racing Industry Show in Indianapolis, Indiana next weekend.

Driven by a combination of innovation and customer demand, Noonan Race Engineering will be showing a number of new items for the first time including a revolutionary billet injector hat, a billet LT block to suit the latest GM models and a unique billet nitro V-twin Hemi which will bring Noonan performance to two wheels.

The full range will be on display at Booth 2237 in the Green Hall where Noonan Race Engineering representatives will be available to discuss your horsepower needs.

Billet Injector Hat

Noonan Race Engineering has created the world's first one piece billet aluminium injector hat, providing a cooler intake charge, more consistency and easy customization of your intake, for your needs.

The Noonan billet injector hat is crafted from American 6061 aluminium and features an inbuilt spray rail, designed to introduce fuel to the intake charge as early as possible. The all-aluminium construction also provides additional cooling compared to carbon fiber materials.

“By using fine jets to disperse fuel evenly through the incoming air, the hat helps cool intake temperatures as soon as the air is drawn in,” said Jamie Noonan, the co-owner of Noonan Race Engineering. “Everyone knows that cooler, denser air means you can burn more fuel and make more power and we believe injector hats have been overdue for a redesign.”

Thanks to Noonan's advanced design, the billet injector hat has a comparable weight to existing carbon fibre model. The rigid billet construction provides better drivability, ensuring consistent opening and closing of the butterflies with no more jams or poor seals.

“The best teams know that the ideal set up is repeatable, fine tuned to the thousandth,” Noonan said. “Refined, supercharged engines rely on predictable behaviour to deliver the best performance and the Noonan billet injector hat provides that.”

At 103 square inches, the Noonan billet injector hat has the largest opening of any hat on the market and takes maximum advantage of international competition rules.

“The Noonan billet injector hat is designed for peak performance straight from South Carolina, but the aluminium material provides greater flexibility for teams to make their own injector hat modifications, allowing horsepower innovators to push the boundaries of speed,” Noonan said.

Billet LT Block

Noonan Race Engineering is proud to provide the ultimate Gen 5 small block platform for the street and the drag strip.

Listening to the needs of customers, Noonan Race Engineering has taken a new approach for the billet LT, retaining much of the original engine architecture but adding billet strength. Noonan Race Engineering shop manager Darrell Makins said the innovative approach allows stunning flexibility for the platform.

“Our original LS billet block was external oil pump only, this next generation LT billet block will take factory oil pump systems,” he said. “We have kept the factory bolt hole positions and that means car builders who want the air conditioning and power steering and everything on their big horsepower engines can do that.”

For those who need more serious lubrication systems, the Noonan LT block continues to deliver.

“This block has all the internal dry sump oiling of the factory block, plus it has external passages if you want to run a Dailey or Moroso dry sump for example,” Makins said.

Noonan Race Engineering has been a leader in developing water-jacketed billet blocks that keep the ultimate performance engines cool, such as the radical supercharged Hemi in Richie Crampton's Drag Week 57 Chev. The billet LT block follows in the same footsteps.

“It has our own cooling circuit, designed in house, and it is a little different. All of the cooling is machined into the block, which has our own design sleeve as well,” Makins said. “With the new cooling system we have designed we have an engine that goes in like stock, with the strength of a solid block. It's a truly liquid cooled, high horsepower design.”

Nitro V-Twin Hemi

Noonan Race Engineering will be making its billet V-twin Hemi available to the public for the first time, providing a new opportunity for nitro V-twin drag racers around the world.

When Noonan Race Engineering releases any of its products, there are thousands of hours of research and development that have gone on behind the scenes. The Noonan 4.9 Hemi changed the game for blown alcohol drag racing, but the research for that motor is actually what drove the unique development of the Noonan billet V-Twin Hemi, according to Noonan Race Engineering shop manager Darrell Makins.

“The billet V-Twin Hemi is basically our V8 Noonan 4.9 Hemi cut into a quarter,” he said. “We originally designed this engine for dyno and Spintron work, the reason being that you can do more research with the same resources by using two cylinders as you can by running a whole V8 engine. You see it a lot with Formula One and the OEMs as you can run four tests for the cost of one on a V8, giving us added knowledge.

“The Noonan billet V-Twin Hemi was designed for this research, and then we had some racers hear about it and ask if it was something we'd be interested in making available!”

While the Noonan billet V-Twin Hemi has a much different origin to many of Noonan Race Engineering's creations, its workhorse nature means it will provide a stunning base for keen motorcycle drag racers.

“We have manifolds designed for supercharged and turbo, but we know our customers are looking at the nitro ranks,” Makins said. “This should be a little smoother running than the Harley-Davidson design, plus we can put in thicker architecture and a better breathing cylinder head.

“It has all the attributes of the Noonan 4.9 Hemi, and it can come suited for the big valve or small valve heads. We might have designed it for ourselves but when people heard about it, they wanted to have it.”
